Hon Fidelix Okunzuwa former Orhionmwon EDSOGPADEC Commissioner |
By Marxist Eghaghe Fame
one those EDSOGPADEC abandoned Project in Orhionmwon LGA in Edo State. |
The EDSOGPADEC commission is now more of fraud other than
development to the Oil and Gas producing area in the Edo State due to the high
rate of uncompleted projects that is being littered everywhere in the Oil and
Gas producing Communities especially Orhionmwon Local government area under the
administration of Barr Vincent Uwadiae and Hon Fidelix Okunzuwa beginning from
the year 2011 till date.
It is no longer new that the Edo state Oil and gas producing
area development commission (EDSOGPADEC) was set up in 2010 as a rescue
commission to rescue the Aminu Kanus in the Oil and gas producing area of Edo
state from social economic and political menace so as to leverage the suffering
of the wretched of the earth. But so unfortunate the Commission was left in wrong
hands, those who do not see man inhumanity to man as a grievous offense against
mankind. It is for this reason the management board of EDSOGPADEC prefer to
rather share among the selves 80% out of
the total allocation of #400million that is budgeted to be used for the
development of the three Oil producing areas in Edo state, which include
Orhionmwon,Ikpoba Okha and Ovia South Local government area of Edo State and
spend only meager 20% for work. If the management board of EDSOGPADEC fees this
is a cheap black mail as they have always accused Social Critics like us for,
they should account for all their spending since 2011-2015 because we have
written to them demanding documents covering all their project done within the
above mentioned years as permissible under the freedom of information act which
they have refused to let out to us. We have not relented in our struggle as we
have the intellectual Capacity to tell the board members that they've done
nothing in our communities compare to what they receive from milking our
communities. members of Orhionmwon
Liberation Movement we continue to go about our gradual international Campaign
peacefully over the marginalization of our people just like the Ogoni people of
Bayelsa once did owing to the declarations of their various bills of rights.,
We stand to be corrected by EDSOGPADEC board authorities if
our campaigns for our people Social Welfare and better living condition as
people from the Oil and Gas producing areas of the state is wrong, but before
then, they must put their house in order to answer my few puzzle questions
below:
1. What was the mission statement of EDSOGPADEC and how much have the Commission received since the inception of the board?
2. What have they done so far to rescue the Commission from intense poverty state and ramshackle dwellings because the last time i visited my Village in Orhionmwon in May this year, there was still no electricity, no good road, no youth empowerment and employment, no water, no Good health care facilities and more. Yet the Commission receives 400million yearly.

3. How many youths or able body young men have the Commission
helped out of the hard street engulfed in the height of unemployment and
poverty when there is so much to spend on human capacity building to ensure a safer Society especially
for the ever expanding number of Unemployed and unhappy youths from the Oil and
gas region.
Whether they like it or not, Our Stand will continue to be
that they should develop our land, empowered and employ our youths in the Oil
sector as we also want to be part of the formulation of EDSOGPADEC policy
making process for the development of the Oil and Gas communities in Edo State.
Failure for the commission to do this, we shall have no other Option other than
to make our noble and justifiable declaration know to the entire world by
carefully enlisting our several bills of rights from different Oil and Gas
producing areas of the State because I do not care anymore if I become another
Kenule Saro Wiwa fighting the liberation course for my people because no
government can exist without the consent of the people.
