US STATE DEPARTMENT DENIES OSHIOMHOLE'S $6bn STORY

US State Department US State department denies Oshiomhole’s $6B story, asked him to name the US-Official.
New York[RR]Washington-DC–Edo State governor who accompanied Buhari in 4-days State visit to United States has alleged that A minister who served under the former Goodluck Jonathan administration, stole $6billion (more than N1.2 trillion), he told Reporters on Monday.
But quick contact with United States Department in Washington-DC, on the matter said it is false allegation. US State Department denied the story, asked Oshiomhole, to name the official and not drag United States into Nigeria domestic politics, Republic Reporters gathered.
Oshiomhole who failed to disclose the name of the minister said the details were provided last week by United States officials during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit there. Mr. Oshiomhole, who was part of the delegation, did not give the name of the minister.
“We have moved away from a president that doesn’t seem to know his powers to one that understands that he is a president of the country in the continent,” Mr. Oshiomhole said in response to criticisms of the trip by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
He spoke on Monday at the state house where he and the Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu, as members of the APC governors’ forum, briefed President Buhari on the outcome of a discussion held with APC Senators Sunday.
“PDP destroyed the country- I mean from the lips of American officials; senior officials of the state department. They said one minister under PDP cornered as much as $6billion, and the man said even by Washington standard that is earth-quaking,” he said.
He said the country was being very patient with the PDP; otherwise Nigerians would have been “stoning” anyone carrying the badge of the party.
Mr. Oshiomhole said the PDP government plundered Nigeria, destroyed its institutions, damaged the military, converted the NTA to a party megaphone, destroyed the SSS, went after opposition, and compromised even student unions.
Mr. Oshiomole said under the PDP, there was no law as they were law to themselves. “We are a very patient people. If we were not a patient people, anybody wearing the tag of PDP ought to feel very unsafe because you are all victims- all of us here,” he said.
He quoted American officials as saying that Mr. Jonathan was seen as a confused president who did not know what they issues were, leaving others outside the country “frustrated”.
Recalling a chat with the US Assistant Secretary of State, Johnnie Carson, on the difference between the two administrations, Mr. Oshiomhole said Mr. Carson told him that each time they thought that there was light at the end of the tunnel for Nigeria and it is time to encourage them to build on it, “you we would wake up the following day under president Jonathan to find out that even the tunnel had been removed”.
“Now last week, this same Carson cheered the president’s address at the Institute of Peace. And he said ‘we now have a man of enormous integrity; one that has shown so much faith in the democratic process; one that refused to be frustrated even in the face of massively rigged elections,” he said.

A PROPOSED BILL TO CREATE MORE STATE CONSTUENCIES IN EDO STATE

By Amb. Justice Oyamienlen Godfrey

I wish to submit this proposal to my good people of Edo state that there is need to increase the numbers of constituencies in Edo State House Assembly to awaken the political participation and to bring about development in our state.

You will agree with me that some local governments with large landscape in the state receive less attention from government owing to the fact that the allocation to such local government may not be enough to meet the needs in the local government therefore the addition of constituency to such local government will in some extent attract the needed development in tense of infrastructures, social amenities and social welfare as part of the entitlement which other constituencies have been benefiting in the state. The numbers of state legislators as it is entrench in Chapter V Part II section 91 in the constitution of the federal republic of nigeria is between 24-40. Therefore Edo state is operating in minimum of 24 which had since contributed to the under development in our dear state.

A close look at some local government with one representative in the house for example Esan south East, esan Central even Egor, Ikpoba-Okha which are situated in the capital speak volume of under development in the 21st century. This truly shows that there is need for addiction of constituencies in edo state to attract development.

We can as well move from 24 to 34 members of Edo state House of Assembly as the case may be and see how rapid the development in these communities will be. The beauty of this proposed bill is that more edo people will be enlighten and politically incline to contribute immensely and bring about development and true representation in their various way. It will not longer be business as usual in the constituencies.

I'm calling on edo people, the traditional rulers, youths, civil societies and everyone who mean well for our dear state to support and add their voice to this bill for a better change in Edo state. Change is the only thing that is constant therefore we must pave way to bring the needed change in our dear state.

Long live Edo people!
Long live Edo State!!
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

THE IMPORTANCE OF CITIZENS IN NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

AMB. JUSTICE G. OYAMIENLEN

You better stop the praises and start demanding for good governance if at all it is in their agenda. Nigeria as a nation have come a long way and the only way the leaders can put substantive development in terms industries, companies, infrastructures and equipped our institutions for capacity building is when you as individuals come out to demand for.

Record have shown that no political party leaders weather in the past or present has applied to the rule according to the good yearning and aspirations of the citizens rather than hearth break and headache given to the nigerian citizens as part of their gain for supporting then (political leaders) to steal our commonwealth.

It is no longer about the shoeless man who have given up his position to sustain democracy in nigeria for the betterment of the citizens, but about the citizens demanding for what belong to them base on even distribution of resources and the welfare of the citizens is what matters.

I have chosen to remain strong and to demand my right and that of my generation for a better nigeria. If the government must work the citizens must play a major role by demanding for it and stop singing praises. The only language politicians understand is pressure from the citizens. Remain all these are entrenched in the constitution but without your force it will become ineffective. It is your right to demand for it.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

AMB. JUSTICE G. OYAMIENLEN
